Finding your perfect partner! What size YT?
Are you on the verge of clicking the buy button for your new YT bike? Amidst the excitement, one crucial decision remains undecided: "What is the right size bike for my body and riding style?"
With options ranging from small to XX-large, it can be daunting to determine which size is the perfect fit for you. But fret not, we're here to assist you through this process.
Always feel free to reach out via call or email if you need assistance in making your decision. At Day Zero, we boast over 10 years of experience with YT bikes and are experts in online direct sales. We know our bikes inside out and will ensure you find your perfect match.
Why Size Matters:
Selecting the correct size mountain bike isn't just about comfort; it directly impacts your performance, control, and overall enjoyment on the trails. Riding a bike that's too small or too large can lead to discomfort, instability, and a loss of confidence. That's why finding the right "partner" is essential for an enjoyable riding experience.
Finding Your Fit:
We recommend starting with the YT sizing guidelines. The R&D team at YT shreds hard and incorporates real-world experience into their size chart recommendations.
However, sometimes you'll find yourself in the gray zone, on the border of size recommendation. At this juncture, neither size is wrong, but one will always be better for "you." To make the correct determination, ask yourself:
1. Do I desire enhanced maneuverability and control on tight trails? If yes, opt for the small option.
2. Do I prefer stability for longer rides and downhill descents? If yes, go for the larger option.
Remember, these are general guidelines, and personal preference also plays a significant role. You may prefer a slightly larger or smaller size based on the riding styles or terrain you enjoy the most.
For some insightful brain food and assistance in guiding your decision, Peter Jamison released an excellent video during his time with YT. Although Peter is no longer riding with YT, his thoughts and experiences still hold true.
Peter's video premiered Aug 3, 2023
"Over the past 18 months, I have begun to dive deep into my bike setup in an effort to optimize its performance. Step 1 in this pursuit has been to sort out what size bike I should be riding. Immediately I began looking at the geometry charts of the bikes I currently had and compared them to the geometry numbers of other bike brands, particularly those which had athletes who I looked up to and were open about what size bike they rode. What I found is that sizing across brands, and even within brands, is not uniform. Then I stumbled across the @JoyOfBike channel and their sizing videos. Their content helped me a lot, but I wanted to conduct a test myself and ride a variety of different reach numbers to really break this down. After spending the past year or so on bikes with a wide range of reach, I feel confident about sharing my findings with you." - Peter Jamison
